Due to this emergency situation, everyone’s efforts are needed to reduce the amount of water you use over the Christmas/New Year Holidays, because our water system’s pumping capacity is temporarily limited due to equipment problems and potentially increasing PCE concentrations.
One of the three wells that produce water for the TKPOA water system is currently out of service and work is underway to expedite the repairs; however, it is not expected that this well will return to service until early next year. This well provides 56% of the water system’s capacity.
PCE levels are adversely affecting our second well. The PCE level is just below the health mandated safe drinking water level, when tested at the end of November; in the event that the PCE level continues to increase this well must be shut down. This well provides 28% of the water system’s capacity.
The capacity of the remaining well is 550 gallons per minute and the peak water demand during the 2015 Christmas/New Year’s holiday was 500 to 600 gallons per minute. In the event that the demand exceeds our well’s capacity, the pressure will be reduced for all customers.
